End of Days

This project explores climate change and human impact on our environment. I explored topics like rising sea levels, low air quality, deforestation, etc., developing scenes that symbolizes ways humans are negatively affecting the world. I included a figure in each photo, which represented mankind as a whole. Different parts of the figure’s body interacted with the scenes to show the impact people have on the environment. I kept the figure in neutral clothing and did not photograph any identifying characteristics to allow the audience to connect with the subject themselves. I shot the scenes with a medium format camera in a studio setting to attain a timeless look to the images.

My interest in environmental concerns was largely due to Shana and Robert Parkeharrison exploration in human struggle and environmental over-use. In the Parkeharrison’s series, Architect’s Brother, Robert Parkeharrison wears a suit and is shown interacting with specific scenes, objects, and landscapes. The Parkeharrison’s heavily manipulate their scenes, so I wanted to go for a similar theme without the use of heavy editing
