Detached

When the first cases of COVID-19, referred to as Coronavirus, were reported in the United States, most people were unaware of the immediate threat and severity of the situation. As the virus spread across the nation, Florida became one of the leading states for confirmed deaths. While the number of cases climb throughout the area, essentials workers are fatigued, citizens are laid off and there are not enough resources for everyone in need.

Detached is a series photographed in Jacksonville and St. Augustine, Florida, symbolizing the epidemic’s impact on isolation. These images showcase abandonment in once populated areas, and the precautions (or lack thereof) to follow ‘social distancing’ guidelines.
